Stern Tube Distance Rings (Spacer Rings): Save Time, Save Docking Costs

A stern tube distance ring (also known as a spacer ring) is a crucial component in oil-lubricated stern tube sealing systems. Our  distance rings are designed to extend the service life of your stern tube seals—without the OEM price tag.

How Does It Work?
In lip-type stern tube systems, seals run on a chrome steel liner. Over time, seal lips create wear grooves on the liner surface. Once wear becomes excessive, sealing performance drops. Instead of replacing the entire liner or shaft, you can install or remove a distance ring between the stern tube and seal housing. This shifts the seal housing slightly forward or aft, allowing the seal lips to run on a fresh, unworn section of the liner. Sealing performance is restored instantly.

The Ultimate Cost-Saver: 'Split' Design
Our distance rings are available in a Split Design, meaning they can be installed without removing the propeller. This makes the process incredibly time- and cost-effective. Avoiding propeller removal during drydocking can save shipowners tens of thousands of dollars in labor and dock time.
